Lipid Pro

LIPID PRO

LIPID PRO is a specialised, comprehensive nutraceutical formula designed to support healthy cholesterol and triglyceride levels, promote optimal lipid metabolism and maintain a balanced lipid profile.

Combining red yeast rice with monacolins, berberine HCl, coenzyme Q10 and timed-release niacin, LIPID PRO provides comprehensive cholesterol and lipid support while supporting cardiovascular health.

LIPID PRO – CHOLESTEROL & LIPID SUPPORT

LIPID PRO is a specialised nutraceutical formula developed by AHERB to support healthy cholesterol levels, promote optimal lipid metabolism and support cardiovascular health.

Modern lifestyles, unbalanced diets, insufficient physical activity, excess body weight, certain harmful habits, genetic predisposition, the use of specific hormonal substances among athletes and numerous other factors may be associated with unfavourable changes in the lipid profile.

Abnormal levels of LDL and HDL cholesterol, triglycerides and other atherogenic lipoproteins often develop without noticeable symptoms. Prolonged exposure to elevated concentrations of atherogenic lipoproteins is one of the major contributing factors to the development and progression of atherosclerosis.

LIPID PRO combines four carefully selected active ingredients with distinct yet complementary mechanisms of action: red yeast rice containing monacolins, berberine HCl, coenzyme Q10 and timed-release niacin.

Rather than simply combining popular ingredients, the formula has been developed around the concept of targeting different processes involved in lipid metabolism through functionally complementary components.

LIPID PRO is intended to complement a comprehensive approach to lipid management, including a balanced diet, regular physical activity, healthy weight management and the reduction of harmful lifestyle habits.

WHAT ARE THE BIOACTIVE INGREDIENTS IN LIPID PRO AND HOW DO THEY WORK?

RED YEAST RICE AND MONACOLINS

Red yeast rice is produced by fermenting rice with the yeast Monascus purpureus. During fermentation, a group of naturally occurring bioactive compounds known as monacolins is formed.

The most extensively studied member of this group is monacolin K.

Monacolin K interacts with HMG-CoA reductase, a key rate-limiting enzyme involved in cholesterol biosynthesis in the liver. Inhibition of this enzyme reduces endogenous cholesterol synthesis.

In response to reduced cholesterol availability within liver cells, LDL receptor activity at the cell surface increases. These receptors bind circulating LDL particles and facilitate their removal from the bloodstream.

This mechanism is one of the reasons why red yeast rice and its naturally occurring monacolins are among the most extensively studied nutraceutical ingredients in relation to lipid metabolism.

Of particular interest is the mechanism of monacolin K, which acts on the same biochemical pathway and key enzyme targeted by statin medications.

Monacolin K in its lactone form is chemically identical to lovastatin. Due to this mechanism, it is frequently described as a naturally occurring statin-like compound and is one of the most distinctive active substances studied in nutraceutical approaches to lipid management.

COENZYME Q10 – 100 mg

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is a naturally occurring, fat-soluble compound that plays a fundamental role in cellular energy production.

It is an essential component of the mitochondrial electron transport chain, through which cells generate ATP, the body’s primary energy-carrying molecule.

Consequently, particularly high concentrations of CoQ10 are found in tissues with substantial and continuous energy requirements, including the heart muscle.

CoQ10 biosynthesis and cholesterol biosynthesis share part of the same mevalonate pathway. Interference with HMG-CoA reductase may therefore influence not only cholesterol synthesis but also CoQ10 levels.

This biochemical relationship is one of the main reasons why LIPID PRO combines red yeast rice with 100 mg of coenzyme Q10, rather than treating these two ingredients as unrelated components.

CoQ10 also possesses antioxidant properties and contributes to the protection of cellular membranes against oxidative processes.

BERBERINE HCl – 500 mg

Berberine is a naturally occurring bioactive alkaloid found in several plant species, including members of the Berberis genus. LIPID PRO provides 500 mg of berberine hydrochloride derived from Berberis aristata root extract.

Berberine has attracted considerable scientific interest for its potential role in lipid and glucose metabolism.

One of its most interesting mechanisms involves LDL receptors in the liver.

LDL receptors can be described as specialised cellular structures that capture circulating LDL particles. The greater the number of functioning LDL receptors on the surface of liver cells, the more efficiently LDL particles can be cleared from the bloodstream.

Berberine has been investigated for its potential to support LDL receptor expression and stability.

Another mechanism of interest involves its interaction with the PCSK9 regulatory system.

PCSK9 is a protein involved in regulating the number of LDL receptors. When PCSK9 binds to an LDL receptor, it can direct the receptor towards degradation rather than allowing it to be recycled back to the cell surface.

A lower number of functioning LDL receptors reduces the liver’s capacity to remove LDL particles from circulation.

Scientific findings suggest that berberine may influence this mechanism and help preserve a greater number of functioning LDL receptors.

It is precisely this distinct mechanism of action that makes berberine a central component of the LIPID PRO formula alongside red yeast rice.

TIMED-RELEASE NIACIN (VITAMIN B3) – 250 mg

Niacin, also known as vitamin B3, is a water-soluble vitamin that plays an important role in normal energy metabolism.

It contributes to the formation of the coenzymes NAD and NADP, which are essential for numerous cellular and metabolic reactions.

Niacin has a long history of investigation in lipidology. At pharmacological doses, it has been shown to influence several components of the lipid profile, including increases in HDL cholesterol and changes in triglyceride concentrations and certain atherogenic lipoproteins.

LIPID PRO contains 250 mg of timed-release niacin.

This delivery technology allows the active ingredient to be released gradually over an extended period rather than all at once.

One reason for using this formulation is the characteristic “niacin flush” associated with higher intakes of nicotinic acid — temporary skin redness accompanied by a sensation of warmth, tingling or burning caused by dilation of superficial blood vessels.

Gradual release is an approach used to provide a more controlled release of niacin and potentially improve tolerability.

It is important to note that an increase in HDL cholesterol as a laboratory marker should not, in itself, be interpreted as a guarantee of reduced cardiovascular risk.

LIPID PRO has been developed as a comprehensive lipid-support formula rather than a product focused exclusively on modifying HDL cholesterol levels.

WHY DOES LIPID PRO COMBINE THESE FOUR INGREDIENTS?

The central concept behind LIPID PRO is to combine distinct, complementary mechanisms of action rather than include numerous ingredients in merely symbolic amounts.

Red yeast rice and its monacolins act on one of the key processes involved in hepatic cholesterol synthesis.

Berberine has been included for its distinct mechanism, involving, among other pathways, the LDL receptor system and its investigated effects on PCSK9.

CoQ10 complements the formula through its fundamental role in cellular energy production and the biochemical relationship between its biosynthesis and the mevalonate pathway.

Niacin further contributes to the comprehensive approach to lipid metabolism, with a timed-release form selected for this formulation.

Together, these ingredients create a concentrated four-component formula in which each active substance has a clearly defined purpose, rather than an extensive list of inadequately dosed ingredients.
